Eid al-Adha: Worship, Sacrifice and Strength
“Indeed, We have granted you Al-Kawthar. So pray to your Lord and sacrifice.”
Surah Al-Kawthar 108:1-2
Eid al-Adha is a day of worship, gratitude and sacrifice.
It is a celebration that reminds us of the submission of Prophet Ibrahim, peace be upon him. He was prepared to sacrifice everything out of obedience to Allah. His story teaches us that faith is not only found in words, but becomes visible through actions.
Eid al-Adha is not only about the sacrifice.
It is about intention. Obedience. Trust. Discipline. And the awareness that everything we have comes from Allah.
In Surah Al-Kawthar, Allah directly connects His blessing with worship:
Pray to your Lord and sacrifice.
This shows us that gratitude should be active. A believer shows gratitude through prayer. Through giving. Through sharing. Through taking responsibility.
During Eid al-Adha, many important values come together.
You remember Allah. You pray. You sacrifice. You share meat with family, neighbours, the poor and those in need. You strengthen family ties. You bring joy to others.
That makes Eid al-Adha a day of community. A day where you do not only think about yourself, but also about the people around you.
The sacrifice reminds us that we must be willing to give something up for Allah. Not only money or possessions, but also comfort, pride, laziness and bad habits.
True sacrifice requires character.
You choose obedience over comfort. Discipline over desires. Responsibility over carelessness.
That is why Eid al-Adha fits so strongly with the idea of strength in Islam. Not only physical strength, but also mental and spiritual strength.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer, while there is good in both.”
Sahih Muslim 2664
This hadith reminds us that strength has value when it is used with the right intention.
Strength to worship.
Strength to support your family.
Strength to help others.
Strength to control yourself.
Strength to keep going when things become difficult.
Eid al-Adha teaches us that worship and action belong together. Sport connects with this. Training requires discipline, sabr and perseverance. Just as the sacrifice teaches us to give up comfort for Allah, training teaches us to give up comfort for growth.
You work on your body, but also on your character.
With the right niyyah, movement becomes a way to take better care of your amanah.
Your body is a blessing from Allah.
Take care of it.

At DeenStrength, we believe that sport and faith strengthen each other when you train with intention, discipline and responsibility. Our clothing is made for Muslims who move with comfort, modesty and meaning.
